PRESIDENT'S 2013 WELCOME LETTER

Hello Stingray families,

We have exciting news and a great 2013 season on deck; new coaches, new teams to swim against and new swimmers to make our team even more awesome.

New coaches: We are proud to announce that Steve Mainini and Joe Perelli will be joining the Stingrays to lead our team as head coaches next year. They have been coaching swim teams for decades and have tremendous energy and great ideas on how to improve and grow our team. Steve and Joe were selected as our new head coaches because they share a philosophy that focuses on developing superb technique in every stroke, and in every age group in order to swim fast and efficiently. They believe the result of this type of training leads to faster swims in competition and swimmers learn how to swim smarter races. They both began swimming competitively at a young age with their local recreational team and developed a love for the sport that led to coaching. New competition: We are in the early stages of scheduling a great season. We will be competing against teams we know, like the Aquaknights , as well as new teams. We will be participating in ECI and possibly an additional invitational or two. We’ll let you know as soon as the calendar is confirmed but it promises to be a fun time.

New Swimmers: We want to see all of our 2012 swimmers back next year and we are looking forward to growing our team to be even better. The Board is exploring ways of attracting more 6-­‐and-­‐unders as well as 13-­‐and-­‐ups. But the best way to attract great swimmers is by word of mouth. Invite a friend to practice. We will be spreading the word throughout Benicia soon. Because we will be actively recruiting new swimmers, make sure to register your returning swimmers as soon as registration begins in February. We’ll give you plenty of heads up.
