NewsSplash 1/20/2023: 2023 Season Updates!!!
Benicia Stingrays
Hi Stingray Families!
Can you believe we are back already?! Just a couple of reminders heading into the new season!
Early Bird Registration Opens Wednesday, February 1st, 2023
- Take advantage of early bird pricing and register between February 1st-February 28th for $350 for ages 4-14; $175 for 15/Up. Siblings will receive a $35 discount.
- After February 28th, pricing increases to $400 for ages 4-14 and stays $175 for 15/Up. Siblings will still receive a $35 discount.
- Here is the 2023 Season Information as it currently stands.
- Here is the 2023 Practice and Meet Schedule. The schedules are tentative. Practice times may need to be altered pending the size and ability of the individual age groups.
- Please review the Volunteer Requirements and reach out if anything is unclear. The current volunteer requirements posted are from the 2022 season. The 2023 volunteer requirements should be similar, but we may need to alter them slightly as swim team signups progress and we see how many families we have signed up.
Summer Rec Swim versus Year-Round Swim Rules
- Many families may not realize this, but there are two main classes of competitive swimming. The Stingrays are a Summer Recreational Swim Team. Nearby VJO and Terrapins are USA Year-Round Swim Teams.
- For the Benicia Stingrays to participate in the Contra Costa County Swim Championship Meet at the end of the season, we are required to follow strict rules set forth by the County Committee. One of these rules states that swimmers are not allowed to participate in organized swim practice from December 1st to the start of our Spring Training Season (the exception to this being high school swim team training).
- A handful of our swimmers elect to practice with the Terrapins or VJO in the off-season. This is allowed up through November 30th. If your swimmer plans to rejoin the Stingrays in the Spring, they are not allowed to swim with Terrapins, VJO, or any other year-round team after December 1st. Please keep this in mind so that we do not jeopardize our standing with the County Committee.
Keep an eye out for future NewsSplashes so we can keep you in the loop for upcoming deadlines and events!!!
