Martinez Meet Results!!!
Great job today team!
We were a little short-staffed today but we made it work!!! Thank you to the junior coaches and Coach Inessa for stepping up and helping wherever possible. A big and special thanks to Coach Miguel for being in 17 places at one time as he managed our entire team without the assistance of our remaining adult coaches. Coach Mariska is on the mend and is anxious to return to the pool deck!
Congratulations to 13/14 year old swimmer, Evan, for earning two County Qualifying Gold Times in breaststroke and backstroke. He also broke the Martinez Pool record in breaststroke. We have several other swimmers who are close so let's get them at Aquaknights next weekend!
Below are the meet results. But first, a quick note on scoring. Swimming is an individual sport, but it is even more so a team sport. Individual wins are so fun, but it is all about the team score!!! Every swimmer counts. Of particular importance are the relays. If we don't have enough swimmers compete, we can't field relay teams. This is why we need every swimmer to sign up for every meet!!! The scoring goes as follows:
- Individual Events: A 1st place finish earns the team 5 points, 2nd place 3 points, and 3rd place 1 point
- Relays: A 1st place finish earns the team 6 points and 2nd earns 3 points. One team can not sweep the relays (if Benicia A finishes 1st, Benicia B finishes 2nd, and Martinez A finishes 3rd, Benicia A will earn 6 points and Martinez A will earn 3 points).
