Torchlight Parade Reminder

Benicia Stingrays

Hi Team,

Don't forget that tomorrow is the July 3rd, Torchlight Parade.  Here is all of the info again.

Meet up

  • Meet near Sailor Jacks at the end of First Street.  We are entry #41 so you can see where we are to depart from on this map.  Meet up time will be approximately 6:10 PM. Remember that you will have to park quite a distance away, so keep this in mind when planning  your evening.

Volunteer Jobs:  Check in with Volunteer Coordinator Bekki Callaway to get credit for fulfilling your job.

  • Adult volunteers walkers are responsible for keeping order to the swimmers, preventing crowding, and not allowing kids to lag behind.  Your job is to chaperone.
  • Adult Wagon Puller Volunteers:   Your job is to pull the wagons that we will fill with candy and light snacks for the kids.  You can also pull small kids in the wagons as the wagons are cleared out of supplies.

Rules and Schedule

We will walk as a team down First Street.  If you bring a wagon to tow your Littles, make it fun!  Decorate it in red, white, and blue!  Add ribbons or balloons!  Make it festive!  We will be led down the parade route by a red Jeep.

  • Parade will start promptly at 6:30 pm.
  • Bring a swim cap to hold candy which we can HAND OUT to the crowd.  FOR SAFETY REASONS, THERE WILL BE NO THROWING OR DUMPING OF CANDY OR OTHER OBJECTS ON TO THE STREET OR INTO THE SPECTATOR AREAS.
  • Wear your most festive red, white, and blue clothes and/or your Benicia Stingray spirit wear, hats, etc.
  • Entries must remain 20 feet (2 car lengths) from the group in front of them.
  • Older swimmers can help hold banners that we need to carry in the parade.
  • The parade ends right before Military, next to the park.  The city asks us to immediately exit to the right towards the library.  If your child is walking in the parade without you, please promptly pick them up at the end of First Street, veering off towards the library.
