Martinez Meet Info

Hi Team,

Please read this entire Splash for important updates regarding the Martinez Meet,

Below is the very tight schedule we need to run tomorrow. Martinez has a massive team.  We will never make it through the meet if we do not stick to this tight schedule.  

In an effort to get through the entire meet, we have shortened warmups and scheduled them to start earlier. The doors to the pool will officially open at 7:30AM and we need our swimmers in the pool warming up at 7:35.  Arrive a few minutes early if possible so that the moment the doors are opened, your swimmer can go straight to the pool for warmups.  

Our meet starter is very aware of the tight schedule we are on.  He will not hold up any races for late swimmers.  If your swimmer is not on the blocks when their heat is starting, the race will start without them.  Swimmers who miss their race will not have the opportunity to join a later heat.  All individual races (except backstroke) will have flyover starts for the 9 and up swimmers.  

Plese review the slightly altered schedule below. It is critical we have all volunteers in position and ready to work at 8:05AM.  

As the meet will likely run until the very last minute, the city has asked that all families exit via the side gate into the parking lot or via the back food truck gate to minimize traffic in the lobby.  Do not exit through the locker rooms/lobby.  The lifeguard staff needs to keep the lobby clear for rec swim in the afternoon.  If we finish before 12:30, we can exit via the lobby as we normally do.  

Location:  James Lemos Pool, 181 East J Street, Benicia

Set up Crew Only:  Arrive at 6:30 and enter via the side gate attached to the parking lot

Front Door Opens: 7:30 AM but try to arrive a little before 7:30 so you are ready to go!  

All families (except Stingray Families directly involved with meet set up) must enter through the front lobby doors on East J Street to then enter the pool deck via the locker rooms.  Families not involved with meet set up are not to enter through the side gate.  

Warm Ups:  Stingrays 7:35-7:50 AM, Visiting Team 7:50-8:05 AM

All Volunteers in Place 8:05AM:  Includes timers/recorders and stroke and turn

Swimmers in Place for first events (50 free and 8/under relays):  8:10AM

National Anthem:  8:10AM

Meet Time:  8:15 AM - 12:30 PM

Team Camps:  Stingrays set up on the long leg of the grass (north end); Visiting team sets up on the short leg of the grass (west end).  Please do not infringe on the short leg of the grass....Martinez has a massive swim team and they need all of the space we can give them.  

Volunteer Check In:  All Stingray Volunteers must check in with our Volunteer Coordinator Bekki Callaway to get credit for hours served. Please check in as soon as you arrive at the pool at the volunteer table (where the two legs of the grass L intersect).  

Exit at end of meet: Exit normally through the locker rooms before 12:30pm.  Exit via the parking lot or food truck gates if closer to 1:00pm.  

Food Trucks and Snack Bar:  will be available.
