League Meet

Benicia Stingrays

Great Job Team!!!

Congratulations on surviving what was probably the biggest/longest meet many of your swimmers have ever participated in!

Overall we finished in 3rd place against some strong competitors!  We all had a great day!  Thank you to the coaches for an awesome season and to everyone who volunteered, donated to the breakfast table, and just supported our swimmers!

We had a few heartbreaks along with many great, and a few exceptional, swims yesterday!

  • Mila Roldan (6) won all 3 of her races, finished as 6/under girls' high point winner, AND broke the team record in backstroke with a time of 24.70.  The previous record was held in a tie between Jessica Larson (2007) and Faye Marshall (2023).
  • Valerie Vargas (10) also won all 3 of her races, finished as 9/10 girls' high point winner, AND broke the League Meet record in backstroke with a time of 34.48.  For those of you keeping track, a time of 34.48 is under the County Qualifying time for 11/12 year old girls!
  • Claire Smith (14) swam a County Qualifying time in IM to earn her second individual County time for the season!
  • Justin Magno (16) swam a County Qualifying time in breaststroke..  It took Justin 11 years to earn an individual County time, and now he has 3.  Persistence and consistency pay off!

And, congratulations to Evan Magno for winning the League Meet Cover Art Contest!

Here are the results!!!!

AND....... SAVE THE DATE!!!!  Sunday, August 27th from 11:30-1:30 will be the Stingrays Annual Awards Ceremony.  We are going back to where the Awards Ceremony (pre-COVID) has always been held, The Clocktower.  The Clocktower will allow us to have a more formal Awards Ceremony compared to the past two years.   ALL swimmers and family members are invited to attend the ceremony.
