Core Volunteers Needed, Stroke and Turn Judges Needed

Benicia Stingrays

Hi Team,

The board and coaches are actively working behind the scenes to get everything ready for opening day in one month!  We still really need to get a few key people to step up and fill some crucial volunteer roles.

Stroke and Turn Judges

  • We absolutely can not have meets without trained stroke and turn judges.  Learning how to be an official is one of the best ways to learn the strokes, understand the process, be a more involved swim parent, AND immensely help the team!
  • All of the training you need will be provided at the Stroke and Turn Clinic on Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  The clinic will take place at the Hercules Swim Center at 2001 Refugio Valley Road, Hercules.
  • No prior experience is needed!  Working as a Stroke and Turn Judge will fulfill your entire volunteer requirement (meet and social) for the year.
  • Please reply to this email if you are interested in attending so we can RSVP for the Stroke and Turn Clinic.  We need you!

Core Volunteers

  • We also need to fill a few core volunteer job positions.  Core positions will fulfill your meet and social job requirements for the year.
    • Head Set Up and Take Down:  Help the Meet Director prepare and take down for home meets only.  You will get direction and assistance from our meet director to lead our set up and take down crew.  This is a great job for parents of little ones because you will be completely free during the actual meet to tend to your kids.
    • Set Up and Take Down Crew:  Work with our Meet Director and Head Set Up and Take Down leader to prepare and clean up the meets.  You should be able to lift foldable tables, set up pop up tents, lift chairs, etc.  We have a new timing system so set up will be MUCH easier this year than prior years!  Again, a GREAT job for parents of littles!!!
    • Meet Announcer:  Be the voice of our home meets from the best seat in the house!  If you can read a meet sheet, you can do this job!
    • Timing System Operator:  We have a brand new timing system this year and it looks soooo cool!  Everything is bluetooth and wireless!  No more awkward cords hanging from the pop up tents for swimmers to trip over!  Training will be provided and you will get the best seat in the house (next to our announcer!) for the home meets.
    • 7/8 Girls Shepherd:  We need a parent of a 7/8 girl to step up and be the shepherd.  Shepherds help organize the swimmers with the jr coaches to get them to their events on time.

Team Suits and Caps

  • Don't forget suit fittings will take place on Monday, March 25th and Tuesday, March 26th from 3:30-6:30 PM.
  • Here is the suit fitting info.
  • Also don't forget to reserve your personalized team swim cap.    Every year we have families approach us too late to order personalized caps!  Personalized caps must be ordered by March 31st.  We will have non-personalized caps available for sale throughout the season.
