Time Trials Info
Hey Team,
Just so you can prepare, particularly for our new Stingray families, here is the info for Time Trials.
Time Trials is a Stingrays-only meet. Swimmers will swim in all of the individual events that they are capable of swimming. This event will give the swimmers their seed times for the season. There are no relays or opposing teams at Time Trials. You must have already registered for this meet to participate. The registration deadline has passed.
Location: James Lemos Pool
Date: Saturday, May 18th
Time
- Gates Open at 7:30 AM. Please make sure to line up at the main entrance to the pool. Do NOT enter through the side gates or before 7:30 unless you are part of the set-up and take-down crew.
- If you are part of set-up/takedown crew, please arrive at 6:00 AM and enter through the side gate (in the parking lot). Check in with Leslie Clements, Meet Director upon your arrival.
- Warmups 8:00 AM.
- Meet Starts 8:30 AM, Meet ends ~12:00 pm
Team Camp
- Set up on either leg of the grass "L" for Time Trials only. For future meets, Stingrays only set up on the north end of the grass (long leg of the "L") and the visiting team gets the short leg of the "L". The pool deck (cement) will not have room for families to set up camp or chairs.
- The grass will be wet in the morning and it will be cold for the swimmers. Suggested items to bring can include tarps/blankets for the ground, WARM clothes/parkas/sweats, personal chairs (the pool's plastic chairs can NOT be moved to the grass), games/books to occupy swimmers between events, sunblock, back up goggles and swim cap, sharpie to mark up your swimmer, printed copy of the meet sheet with a highlighter, and plenty of towels (one towel will not be enough as some of the swimmers will be in and out of the water 5-6 times over the day).
Volunteers
- Check in with Colin or Wendy Buresh at the volunteer check-in table (on the pool deck, where the two legs of the grass "L" intersect) to get credit for your shift and for job direction by 8:00AM.
- 50:50 Raffle: Tickets will cost $1. Drawing will be at the end of the meet
- Season Long Raffle: Tickets will cost $1. The prizes are huge and the drawing will be at the Awards Ceremony in August.
Meet Sheet: This will be emailed to you the night before the meet. This tells you when and where your swimmer needs to be during the meet.
- Click the link for how to read the meet sheet
- Don't forget a sharpie marker so you can mark your swimmer's arm with their event/heat/lane assignments.
Parents, we rely on you to help us get your swimmers to where they need to go on time. For the 8/unders, please look for the shephards, who will start gathering the swimmers by age group/gender about 15 minutes before their event is ready to start. The shephards will collect the swimmers just past lane 8 on the side of the pool opposite from the starting blocks. For the 8/unders, here are our shephards for you to work with (Thank you shephards for taking on the task of herding cats!):
- 6/Under Boy Shepherd: Colleen Cosgrove & Spencer and Janelle Kettrick
- 6/Under GIrl Shepherd: Lesley Moa-Langi & Kristina Wright
- 7/8 Boys Shepherd: Carla Goad
- 7/8 Girls Shepherd: Open...7/8 girl parents, we are going to need your help to organize your kids until someone steps up to be a shephard!
For 9/ups, there are no shephards. Parents and swimmers are responsible for getting the swimmers to the blocks on time. Please make sure your swimmer heads over to the blocks when the age group before them is starting their swims so that they are ready to go when their group is up.
Timing System
- Our goal is to have the new Time Drops Live timing system up and running. If it is, the downloadable app Time Drops Live will give you instant results for the swimmers.
- If the new timing system is not workable yet, we will use our old timing system and the Time Drops Live app will not work for this meet.
If you have questions, look for board members, in our light blue Board Member shirts. We want to help you!
