League Meet Results

Benicia Stingrays

I am sure you all have heard by now, but WE WON LEAGUE MEET!!!!

Thank you coaches for an awesome and successful year.  Thank you swimmers for the hard work you have put into this season.  It is not easy for teenagers to make it to practice every day at 8:00 and they did it!  It is not easy for a 6/under to muster up the courage to swim across the pool amongst the noise and chaos of a meet and they did it!  Getting kids to practice after school and during the workday is not easy.  It is not easy for your entire summer to be devoted to a 6-7 day per week sport. And you did it!   Everyone's hard work was very evident yesterday at the meet!

Besides the success of our entire team, we also had some standout performances from our individual swimmers!

  • We had FIVE individual high-point winners!
    • Memphis Vargas:  He was the 6/under high-point winner and earned his second gold time of the season in butterfly!
    • Mila Roldan:  She was the 7/8 girls' high-point winner as a 7-year-old (those 8-year-old girls have nothing on her!)
    • Valerie Vargas:  She was the 11/12 girls' high-point winner as an 11-year-old (again, those 12-year-old girls don't scare her) and she bettered her Stingray record in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 32.14.
    • Caden Clements:  He was the 11/12 boys' high point winner, swimming a perfect meet...he won freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke!
    • Evan Magno:  He was the 13/14 boys' high point winner, also swimming a perfect meet...he won IM, butterfly, and backstroke!
  • Additional standout performances included
    • Taylor Meaders:  6/under girls' high-point runner-up
    • Faye Marshall:  7/8 girls' high-point runner-up
    • Miles Shaw:  7/8 boys' high-point second runner-up
    • Apollo Ambrose: 11/12 boys' high-point runner-up
    • Boys' 15-18 400 Freestyle Relay:  These guys dropped over 14 seconds from their seed time to qualify to County!

Our County Qualifiers have one more week of intense practice for their hardest meet of the season!  Good luck to all of our County Qualifiers!

Don't forget to save the date for Sunday, August 25th for the Awards Ceremony!

And here are the results!
