Thank you and a fond farewell to Coach Mariska

Benicia Stingrays

Hi Stingrays,

Please see below for an important announcement from Coach Mariska:

Dear Stingray Families,

It is with regret that I must step down as the head coach of the Stingrays.  Personal reasons have presented themselves and I must attend to them, with my family and health taking precedence.  It has been a dream come true to be the head coach of your amazing athletes for the last four years.  As most of you know, I grew up swimming with a summer recreation team here in the Bay Area.  I have found those years to be the best part of my summers.  These memories shaped me to be the person and coach that I am and it is the same hope I have for your children. My main goal for my athletes has always been retention with the love of the sport and growing the community within it.  The traditions and family that have been created will continue.  I will see you all at the awards ceremony, helping out when I am needed, and around our beautiful town.

Sincerely,
Coach Mariska

The board would like to extend our deepest thanks to Coach Mariska for the last four years.  She took over the team during a very uncertain time for the Stingrays, immediately following COVID quarantine.  We weren't certain our team was going to survive COVID--the board was a skeleton crew and we didn't have a head coach.  Mariska came on and, with her positive attitude and energy, she truly created a family.  She spear headed the age group outings and Knightrays to create not just a swim team, but a group of kids who truly enjoyed being together.  We are so excited that in her farewell meet, we were able to become League Champs with her.  We wish her well in the upcoming year and look forward to her visiting the pool deck when she is able.

Again, we will get out Fall Swim info in the coming week and are actively restructuring the coaching staff.  We will have a full coaching staff come Fall Swim.
