League Meet Updates and Reminders
Knightray Deliveries of Good Luck Posters
- Our Knightrays (13-18 year-old Stingrays) will be delivering good luck posters and treats to our 12/under swimmers beginning at 4:00pm on Thursday, July 25th to BENICIA HOUSEHOLDS.
- If you live in Vallejo, Fairfield, or do not have a Benicia home address on file (some of the addresses on file are business addresses), please have your swimmer pick up their good luck poster on Friday at practice. We apologize, but we have too many Vallejo families to allow deliveries to Vallejo this year.
Time: There is not an official gate opening time, but typically the gates are open around 6:30AM. If you are stroke and turning at the meet, listen for the stroke and turn meeting announcement (last year it was at 7:45 AM). The meet is scheduled to start ~9:00 and end at around 4:30.
Location: American Canyon High School, 3000 Newell Drive, American Canyon, 94503
Team Camp: TBA
League Meet Power Breakfast: Please drop off your potluck items at the breakfast table as soon as you arrive at camp. The tables will be set up in the walkway at the front of camp. Visit the signup genius to donate an item or two to our breakfast spread!
Warm Ups: Stingrays warmup time TBA.
Events:
Coaches will assign swimmers to up to 3 individual events and 2 relays.
Clerk of the Course:
- For families who have never attended an invitational or League Meet before, the check-in process is a little different than for regular dual meets. Swimmers must check in for their swim about 15-20 minutes before their event at Clerk of the Course. This means you must know who is currently swimming so you can get your swimmer to Clerk at the appropriate time. The volunteer parents at Clerk will guide your swimmer into rows of chairs and have them sit, in order, with their heat, until it is their turn to swim. Parents are not allowed past the check-in table at Clerk of the Course (but if you have little ones, you can stand outside the roped-off chair area and still easily see them). When it is their turn to swim, the volunteers will guide the swimmers onto the pool deck and get them to the appropriate lane to swim their event.
- If you have an 8/under, please help the shepherds out. Please do not just leave your child with the shepherd and run away if the shepherd needs help herding cats. It is not the shepherds' job to search camp for your swimmer--if you do not get your 8/under to the shepherd promptly, they may miss their swims--this is not the shepherds' fault.
Volunteer Assignments: ALL FAMILIES (even those that bought out of their regular volunteer jobs, those with only 15/up swimmers, volunteer coaches, and core/board members) must work a volunteer shift. If you failed to sign up for a volunteer job, you must fill whatever job was assigned to you. It is your responsibility to check the job signup list to know where you should be and when. You must check-in for your volunteer job with Wendy Buresh, Colin Buresh, and Krista Heredia once you arrive at camp. All no-shows will have $150 billed to the credit card on file. The volunteer check-in area will be towards the front of camp, next to the breakfast table.
*** New*** Volunteer Job Subs
- If you have a timer shift that you do not want to fill, former Stingray 17-year-old Lucas Cagnon and his friend are willing to work your timer shift. Each shift costs $100 and you can text Lucas at 707-741-0861. Please do not reply to this email to hire Lucas.
Programs: If you reserved a program, you must purchase it at the breakfast table. PLEASE bring exact change ($10). If you reserved a program and fail to pick it up/pay for it, we will bill your credit card on file $10.
Food: There will be a variety of food trucks present and we will have the potluck table set up for breakfast and snacking.
T-shirts: Shirts/Sweatshirts will be available for purchase and airbrush tattoos will be available as well.
Awards: We usually meet for pizza at Pacifica Pizza after the meet and swimmers can pick up their awards there. If the team does not get together, or you do not come, the awards will be available at the end of season Awards Ceremony on August 25th. Please try to stay for the awards ceremony at the end of the meet. This is where individual high-point winners and team placings are announced. We have a chance to do well as a team this year so let's show them how big and strong the Stingray team can be!!!
Swim Marshalls: A friendly reminder regarding safety at League Meet: Parents, please respect the Marshalls at the meet. The Marshalls are parent volunteers placed throughout the meet so that the swimmers can get to/from the blocks promptly and safely. They direct parent traffic so that all parents enter and exit the pool deck in one direction. They are also stationed in fire lanes and by the bleachers to ensure that no one is standing in front of the bleachers impeding the vision of those in the bleachers. Parents are not allowed behind the blocks and no photos behind the blocks (if you are timing, no phones are allowed). Please treat the Marshalls with respect and understand that they are just completing their assigned job.
