County Wrapup
Congratulations to all of our Stingray County Qualifiers! The season is now officially over! It was such a long hot weekend. The T-shirts are an odd mustard yellow color. There were stinging wasps in camp. AND it was Coach Miguel's birthday AND we had a great weekend of swims AND two team records were broken!
For those of you wondering, between 40-50 teams compete at County Championships every year. This is about 10 times the number of teams that compete at our League Meet. County includes rec teams from all of Contra Costa County, Solano County, and American Canyon. The Walnut Creek and Lamorinda area are abundant with powerhouse teams. You must swim a qualifying (gold) time to compete at this meet and this is utimately the goal of many rec swimmers. County Meet is divided over two days. The morning swims are preliminaries. The top 10 finishers make it to the championship finals in the afternoon. The next 10 finishers make it to the consolation finals in the afternoon.
Teams are scored based on the number of entries they have. There are 3 divisions. Division 1 teams have the most entries and division 3 teams have the fewest entries.
