Hi Team,

 

We are just about two weeks away from our first day of practice!!!  As we gear up for the season to open, here are some reminders and updates.

 

Suggested Swim Gear

All swimmers should come to practice on time (5 minutes early), suited up, goggles ready, capped, and ready to go.  Please make sure your swimmer has not outgrown their old suits and fins.  So that you can prepare, here is a list of what all swimmers should have:

  • Suits:  Have at least 2-3 suits as they will be in the water daily (girls should wear appropriate practice suits; boys typically wear jammers, which look like bicycle shorts, or Speedo type briefs)
  • Fins:  All swimmers 7 and up should have fins.  Most swimmers have their own set but we have a limited number of various sizes available on the pool deck to borrow.  Do not take these home
  • Goggles
  • Caps:  All swimmers with longer hair should wear a cap; most swimmers wear a cap regardless
  • Kickboards:  Every practice utilizes boards; we have plenty for use on the pool deck. Do not take these home.  
  • Towels:  They will just need one towel for practice, but it is helpful to have multiple towels for swim meets as they are in and out of the pool many times in one meet.  

​We do have a team store at Swim Outlet.  If you purchase items here (versus Amazon), the team gets a small percentage of every purchase.  The team store also has cool Stingray branded gear such as parkas, backpacks, etc.

 

Picture Day Date and Time--Save the Date!

  • Picture day is scheduled for Friday, May 16th
  • Time:  3:30 - 6:30 pm
  • Location:  James Lemos Pool
  • Come in your team suit.  Team shirts will be handed out prior to the group picture.  Team shirt is included in the cost of your registration.  
  • Group picture is taken in team shirt, individual pictures are taken in your suit.

 

Season Opening Welcome Party--Save the Date!

  • Date: Sunday, April 27th
  • Time:  11:00AM - 1:00PM
  • Where:  Southampton Swim Club
  • Meet the coaches and board members, get all of your questions answered, eat some free donuts, swim for free, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grass with your family!!!

 

Team Suits

  • Team suit fittings are scheduled for Monday, April 7th-Thursday, April 10th
  • Time:  4:00-6:30 each day
  • Location:  James Lemos Pool Deck
  • It is critical your swimmer try on their suit before ordering as team suits are non-refundable once ordered 
  • The deadline to order team suits will be Sunday, April 13th to guarantee delivery of suits by Time Trials and Team Photos

 

Open Core and Board Member Positions

  • If this team is going to survive into the future, we need new families to step up.  The majority of our board members have been serving in their roles for 5-10 years.  Their kids are quickly aging out of the team.  If we do not get new families to learn the system, the team will not be sustainable.  
  • Treasurer, Board Position:  If you have Quick Books experience, please reach out.  
  • Meet Director, Board Position:  Leslie Clements is looking to turn over her Meet Director position next season. This season she would like to train a shadow to take over for next year.  
  • Stroke and Turn Judge, Core Position:  We currently have 5 committed stroke and turn judges.  We can not function as a team with just 5 judges.  Stroke and Turn judging is the best way for you to understand the rules of swimming so that you can help your child.  All prospective Stroke and Turn Judges must attend the stroke and turn training on the morning of Saturday, April 26th at American Canyon High School.

 

One More Lap

  • Before you purchase your team suit, Evan Magno does have quite a few team suits in his One More Lap stash of gear. He also has many practice suits in basically new condition.  Check out his signup genius if you are interested in some free swim gear!  The design of this year's suit is similar, but not identical, to past years' suits.  Plenty of kids will be wearing past seasons' designs.  
  • If you have previously signed up for items and have not replied to multiple emails sent to you, your claimed gear will be put back into the rotation for others to claim.
