As we are winding down the season, please read every NewSplash so you do not miss critical information!

 

Spirit Week:  July 21st - July 25th

The last week of regular practice (so NEXT week, Monday, July 21st- Friday, July 25th) is Spirit Week!  Every day has a fun theme to pump up the kids for our League Championship Meet!  So that you can plan:

  • The theme for each day is
    • Monday - The Future is Bright! Wear neon colors & glasses to practice. 
    • Tuesday - Anything but a cap day! Anything fun on your head!  Hats, crowns, head bands, you name it!
    • Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday - the crazier the better!
    • Thursday - Dress like a coach day!! Channel your strength & leadership skills by borrowing some of your coaches' fashion sense!
    • Friday - Superhero day!  This is the last day before League Meet.  Channel your favorite superhero vibes to end the season strong!!!

 

Coaches' Appreciation:  July 22nd - July 24th

  • We also use the last week of regular practice to acknowledge and thank our coaches for all of their hard work this season! 
  • From Tuesday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 24th, we will have a table with individual bags for each coach.  You may (you do not have to!) place a small gift, gift card, or thank you card in the coaches' bags.  It does not have to cost money!  We will have a table with thank you cards, markers, and paper so the swimmers can write a personalized note or draw a picture for their coaches!  Often, the most appreciated gifts are heartfelt thanks and drawings from our littlest Stingrays!  I know first hand that the junior coaches save every drawing and note they have been gifted over the years!!   
  • Remember that items will be left in their bags for several days in the heat.  Homebaked goods and chocolates are appreciated, but do not hold up!  
  • Social Volunteer Job Opportunity:  Visit our Job Signup page and knock out a social volunteer job by manning the thank you card table for the team!  It's a super easy job!!!
  • Our adult coaching staff:  Coach Steve, Coach Miguel, Coach Karissa, and Coach Alyssa.  Coach Janis also helped out immensely with our littlest Stingrays in the Spring!!!  
  • Our junior coaching staff:  Claire, Evan, Ava, Conor, Caden, Amelee, Val, Ellie
  • Our volunteer junior coaching staff: Grace, Kieran, and Apollo.

 

Drag Week:  July 21st - July 25th

  • ​​​The last week of practice is ALSO drag week!  
  • This is optional.  If your swimmer chooses to participate, they can wear a fitted t-shirt or tank top over their suit during practice.  This makes practice just a little bit harder so that when they swim in their competition suit at League Meet, everything will feel so light and easy!  

 

Knightrays' Deliveries

  • ​​Recent tradition is that our Knightrays home deliver their handmade good luck posters (which they have been working on weekly for the entire summer!) to every Benicia 12 & under League Meet competitor on the last Thursday before League Meet.  Out of town Stingrays can pick up their posters on Friday at practice.  
  • For this to happen, we need Knightray parents to volunteer to drive. Please reply back to this email if you are can drive Knightrays around town from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, July 24th.  Each car of Knightrays will deliver about 15 posters to houses around Benicia.  
  • Even more special, our 8/unders will get an amazing good luck charm handmade by Edward and William Munn's mom (what she made for our team is so special and adorable!)
  • Parents of Knightrays, we have about 15 more posters to complete so please send your 13/up swimmer to Evan Magno's house this Thursday from 4:00-6:00 to finish up the last of the posters!  

 

Meet Volunteers Still Needed

  • ​Crockett and Pleasant Hill still have a few job openings.  Please sign up for a job if you are able!  

 

Reminders!!!

  • ​League Meet Power Breakfast Sign Up Genius:  If you would like to help feed our swimmers, please donate an item or two to our breakfast table.  We still need many ice chests with bagged ice or everything will perish in the heat!
  • Hox Last Chance Meet
    • ​Your swimmer can't get enough of swim meets?  Your swimmer is super close to a County time and wants one more shot?  Then the Hox Last Chance Meet is for them!  
    • This is not a Stingray-sponsored meet, but you may independently sign up for this meet if your swimmer wants one last chance to drop time.  We do not have coaches or a Stingray designated camp at this meet.  Parents are responsible for all aspects of registration and organization at the meet.  All registration questions should be directed to the Hox meet itself.  
    • Here is the information!  
  • Private Lessons with the Coaches Raffle---LAST CHANCE!!!!
    • ​Purchase your raffle tickets this week on the pool deck for $5 each!  
    • This is your last chance to win a private lesson!  Kids were dropping times like crazy at ECI this weekend so let's keep it going!  
    • The drawing will be on Friday, July 18th, for lessons on Wednesday, July 23rd from either Coach Miguel or Coach Steve!!!
