Swimmer Entries At Dual Meets
A parent just asked why their daughter was not entered in all of the individual events tomorrow for the Aquaknights meet, and this is a great question!
At dual meets, swimmers are limited in the number of events they can swim. If all swimmers swam every event, we would be at the meet all day! The swimmers are entered into events at the coaches' discretion. Over the season, they will likely swim all of the individual events (provided they know how to). Relays are based off of time. The four fastest swimmers will swim on the A relay, the next four fastest swimmers will swim on the B relay, and so on down the line. If new PR's are achieved, the combination of swimmers assigned to a given relay may change over the season.
Saturday Morning Dual Meets: Swimmers are usually limited to three individual events and up to two relays
Wednesday Afternoon Dual Meets: Swimmers are usually limited to two individual events and up to two relays
Invitationals: These have more flexibility and each has different rules, but parents select which events their swimmer will compete during the registration process.
