Change For A Change

  • As a youth community organization, we started a scholarship fund last year for our graduating seniors.  It takes commitment to stick with swim through high school and keep showing up.  Those 8 AM practices are rough for these teenagers who have so many other commitments.  Additionally, most of these teenagers are the ones who are directly working with your littles.  They are the ones in the water with them every day at practice, and they are the ones losing their voices screaming for them at swim meets.  And before you know it, your 6/under swimmer could be a junior coach and in high school as well! 
  • Check your car.  Check your couch cushions.  Empty those pockets.  Visit our snack bar at practice and meets to drop off any loose change into our Change For A Change jug.  Thank you to Sharon Martinez for the adorable sign for our jug!  The snack bar is open Tuesday and Thursday this week and then will be open Tuesday and Friday during summer practice.  It is open at all meets. 

Volunteer Job Subs

  • Now that the season is really getting underway, don't forget that you can hire a teen job sub to work your volunteer shift.  They charge $50 per shift, and this is way cheaper than paying the end-of-year fine for unfulfilled job shifts.  
  • Visit our job sub page and text the teen directly if you are interested in hiring them.  
  • If you hire them, all communication and payment is between you and them.  The volunteer coordinators do not get involved.  Sign up for your job as normal, and make a note of who will be working your shift on the online job signup.  The teen sub must check in with the volunteer coordinator at the beginning of the meet for you to get credit for the shift.  

 

Upcoming Save The Dates And Deadlines!

  • Wednesday June 10th:  Deadline to register for the Pinole Seals Away Meet (occurs Wednesday, June 17th)
  • Thursday, June 11th at 9:00pm:  Deadline (extended by one day!) to register for Battle of the Ages (occurs Saturday, June 27 - Sunday, June 28).  Here is the Battle Info!  Registration is online through Zeffy.  If you did not fill out the Zeffy registration and payment, then your swimmer is not registered yet.  
  • Wednesday, June 17th:  Deadline to register for the Martinez Home Meet (occurs Wednesday, June 24th)
  • Thursday, June 25th:  Lapapalooza--get those pledges in!  Here is the Lapapalooza Info.  Fulfill one of your social volunteer jobs here (sign up on the regular team website)!
  • Tuesday, June 30th:  Family Fun Night.  Fulfill one of your social volunteer jobs here (sign up on the regular team website)!
