Otters' 8 and Unders Invitational

Hi Stingrays,

It is hard to believe, but it is time to start registering for our first invitational meet of the year!  Otters' 8 and Unders is quickly approaching so let's get registering!

 

What is it? 

This is an invitational meet for the 6/unders and 7/8's only.  It is a fun and fast-paced meet and it is a great opportunity for the younger swimmers to get more meet experience before the bulk of the season gets underway.  This is the perfect time for your little one to get meet experience with just other littles (no big kids!)

The coaches are limiting this meet to 7/8's and 6/unders who can independently swim (the Skates practice group).  

 

Date and Time

  • Date:  Sunday, June 4th, 2023
  • Gates Open:  7:30
  • Warmups:  TBD
  • Meet Starts:  8:30
  • Meet Ends:  ~11:30

 

Location

This meet will take place at Rankin Aquatic Center, located at 100 Buckley Street in Martinez.  We will have an assigned team area to set up camp so look for fellow teammates and coaches to set up in the appropriate area.

Registration

Note that you do not register online for invitationals as you do for regular swim meets.  Invitational meets also have a separate fee that the families must pay for their swimmer to participate.  You are responsible for paying a meet entry "splash fee" and parents select and pay for the individual events they would like their swimmer to compete in.  If your swimmer is selected to participate on a relay team, the team will cover the cost of the relay.  Coaches will decide who participates in a relay so you only register and pay for your swimmer's individual events.  The relay teams will likely not be announced until the day of the meet.  If you do not know what events your swimmer is capable of swimming, just ask the coaches for advice. 

Here is the registration form.  Please fill it out  and either attach check payment or pay via Paypal (pay treasurer@bsrswim.org AND comment swimmer name with invitational name AND select friends and family).  Drop off the registration form (and attached check if paying by check) into the black box labeled "Stingray Mailbox" on the pool deck during practice.  The box will be near the large green recycle bin close to the grass.  Please do not pay via Zelle.  We need to minimize payment options to keep track of payments.  

The registration deadline is Thursday, May 18th. 

 

Entry Fees are as follows:

  • Splash Fee:  $4 per swimmer
  • Per Event Fee:  $4
  • Relay events:  Fees will be covered by the Stingrays if your swimmer is selected to participate on a relay team

Volunteer Requirement:  Note that ALL families have a separate volunteer requirement for invitational meets (these do NOT count towards your required team volunteers hours throughout the regular season).  You do not sign up for these jobs online as you do for the regular dual meets.  The volunteer jobs will be assigned a day or two before the actual event and you will receive an email with your job assignment shortly before the meet.  Failure to complete your assigned volunteer job, find a substitue to complete your job for you, or contact Jeanne regarding your situation will result in loss of your $100 volunteer deposit.  This deposit must be re-paid before your swimmer can participate in future meets.  Please text Jeanne Woodford at 708-853-0928 if an emergency comes up and you are unable to complete your assignment.
